This book discusses how entrepreneurs can find their growth path in a highly competitive market.  While more and more enterprises have acknowledged that organizational learning is critical to a firm’s continuous growth, it is a great challenge to develop an appropriate business model and an organizational structure to acclimatize the firm to its vast growth.

Every strategy has a natural size. We build on theories of resource dependence, organizational learning, dynamic capabilities, and strategic choice to explore the relationship among strategy, environment, and performance in the context of Chinese firms.  We suggest that benchmark management is an effective strategic tool for firms to build their routines through which resources can be linked to manage both internal and external environmental activities and challenges.  Benchmark management can also be used to facilitate the design of an organizational structure, improve management skills, and create performance evaluation system.  Throughout this book, we provide practical examples to demonstrate how Chinese firms can learn from their competitors or world-class enterprises and how to establish a benchmark management system inside the firms to acquire external knowledge.
