(BEIJING, July 5) -- Thirteen first-aid stations that are currently under construction will open in advance of the Olympic Games, reported Xinhuanet. The new stations will bring the total number of first-aid stations under the 1-2-0 Beijing Emergency Medical Center to 165.

As of July 2, 52 new first-aid stations had opened in Beijing's emergency medical rescue network.

BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing police authority opened a bilingual call line and website on Sunday to provide lost property information to the large number of foreign tourists expected during the Olympics.

People who lost items or picked up other people's belongings could call 62041111 or log on to www.bjgaj.gov.cn/swzl, where they could get information in Chinese and English, said He Angang, of the Beijing Public Security Bureau.

The police have set up 1,020 service centers for lost property in police stations, villages, companies, schools and government departments across the city, said Wang Xiaobing, another bureau official.

"The National Stadium, or Birds Nest, will have five service centers during the Olympics," he said.

All Olympic venues, including the stadiums, registered hotels and hospitals, would have service centers for lost property, which would be sent to nearby police stations within 12 hours and the information uploaded to the Internet, he said.

(BEIJING, July 6) -- Just as things were looking better and better for sprinter Tyson Gay, an injury dropped him on his back.

He, and the American nation, had high hopes for another amazing run in the 200m.

When the gun went off for the start of the 200m, Tyson seemingly flew off the blocks with no problems. But almost just as quickly as he started out, he faltered, grabbing his left leg with a look of agony as he went down. Because only the top three competitors in each running event will represent the US at the Beijing Games, Tyson now has no chance of standing atop the medal podium for the 200m in August.

Gay's fall shocked athletics fans all around the world. Rivals were surprised too, as Gay is a formidable opponent and would have been a good challenger for Olympic gold in the 200m.

Luckily, his 100m qualification will not be affected by today's drop out. Gay will still be attending the Games, but with no hopes of bagging two golds.

LAGOS, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) on Saturday released the list of its contingent to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, with the Mobil 2008 Championship's 100m champion Obinna Metu topping the men's cadre.

The Valencia world indoor champion Olusoji Fasuba, whom Metu beat in the 100m final of the Abuja meet, also made the list.

Others are Adetoyi Durotoye, Uchenna Emedolu, Chinedu Oriala, Onyeabor Nwaogu and Deji Aliu.

Metu will also compete in the 200m at the Olympics.

In the 400 and 4x400m, Goodday James will join Saul Weipogwa, Bola Lawal, Gbenga Awoleye, Victor Isaiah and Femi Ogunode to compete for medals.

Salim Nurudeen, who will compete in the 110m Hurdles, completes the list as the 15th for the male athletes.

SEOUL, July 4 (Xinhua) -- A senior South Korean football official offered to resign on Friday over the national squad's performances during the recent Asian qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup.

The national squad failed to "live up to the expectations of football fans" although they finished first in their group," said Lee Young-moo, who takes charge of the national team at the Korea Football Association.

"I should have supported the team better as head of the technical committee," Lee said. "I feel responsible for the performance during the third round."

"We did not score when given chances and did not concentrate hard enough," Lee said.
