　　VR：Virtual Reality，虚拟现实，又称投入3D，由空军模拟飞行装置演变而来，基本上是利用左、右视觉空间交替变换显示图像的原理产生立体效果，实际上已超出图像处理的范畴，是综合光、声、图像的计算机生成环境，人们能够像在实际生活中那样对虚拟环境中的对象进行交互式操作，虚拟现实应用前景极为广阔。

　　OCR：Optical Character Recognition（光学字符识别）的缩写，是指将文字材料通过扫描仪输入作为计算机图像文件，通过软件识别为中文或英文内码，然后进行文字处理。由于手写体的随意性太大，目前OCR主要限于印刷文字的识别。目前代表中文OCR识别准确率最高水平的是清华文通公司出品的TH－OCR NT for Windows。

　　SCSI：Small Computer System Interface，小型计算机系统接口，它是为解决众多的外部设备与计算机之间的连接问题而出现的。

　　这是含义相当广泛的一个词，一般的用法是代表艺术、建筑、设计等方面对于现代主义（modernism）的一种反动。可是在许多新闻报道中可以看到从棒球乃至汽车都能用这个字形容。现代主义是伴随工业革命的产物，以“机器”为中心意象。后现代则是1970年代的产物，以“人”为中心意象，摆脱现代主义对功能性、效率性的追求，而加添了幻想、情感、非理性等因素，并重回传统的类型中去寻找灵感。

　　以后现代建筑为例。后现代建筑家摈弃了自包豪斯（Bauhaus）以来一直到1950、1960年代大盛的现代主义，转向历史细节寻找灵感，夸张建筑结构元素，有高度的象征意味，有时也带有巴洛克（Baroque）风味。后现代建筑的大师首推Robert Venturi。相对于现代主义大师Mies Van Der Rohe所主张的Less is more，Venturi则主张Less is a bore。他要求形式的丰富性与矛盾性，同时广由地方建筑风貌汲取灵感。他盖给他母亲的房子（在宾州Chestnut Hill市）即象娃娃屋又象传统农庄，成为初期后现代建筑的代表作。

　　后现代一词，如果出现的上下文与艺术完全无关，那么就只是借用它来表示“最新潮的”、“走在时代尖端的”。当然，它也广泛用在音乐、舞蹈、文学、电影等各方面。
